Instrumentista, intérprete de armónica, es considerado por la crítica y prensa argentina como uno de los músicos más notables y talentosos de la nueva generación.

Comenzó sus estudios como percusionista, formado académicamente en Rosario (Prov. de Santa Fe), donde nació en 1981. Estudió en la Escuela Municipal de Música, en la Universidad Nacional de Rosario y en la Escuela Provincial de Música de la misma ciudad donde se recibió con el titulo de Maestro Nacional de Música, con especialidad en Percusión (Sinfónica y Batería), pero encontró su camino profesional a través de la armónica, en especial la cromática.

Es cultor de la música popular argentina, tanto rural como urbana (folklore y tango). Esa inclinación, lo llevó, en el año 2002 a competir en el Certamen Pre-Cosquín del Festival Nacional de Folklore donde fue ganador en el rubro Solista Instrumental y luego galardonado con el Premio Revelación Cosquín 2002 (festival del que ha participado en forma ininterrumpida hasta la actualidad).

Aquel fue el inicio de su carrera profesional, que se encuentra en constante crecimiento y que lo ha llevado a recorrer todo el país y a realizar presentaciones y giras por el exterior con sus propias formaciones en Uruguay (Montevideo), Brasil (Bello Horizonte, Curitiba y San Pablo), España (Madrid y Cataluña) , Bélgica (Bruselas)  y Canadá (Vancouver) y, como invitado especial, en Italia e Inglaterra (junto a Mercedes Sosa en sus presentaciones en Milán, Roma y Londres 2008), Francia,  Italia y Grecia (con Ensamble Hyperion) y en EEUU (con la cantante peruana Eva Ayllon en un gira homenaje a Chabuca Granda por la ciudades mas importantes de ese país), entre otros.

Actualmente cuenta con cinco producciones discográficas: Armusa (Franco Luciani Grupo, Tango y Folklore instrumental, 2002, reedición Acqua Records 2010). Armónica y Tango (Franco Luciani Dúo, Tango instrumental - Acqua Records, 2006), Acuarelas de Bolsillo (Franco Luciani Grupo, Tango y Folklore instrumental - Acqua Records, 2007), Proyecto Sanluca (Proyecto Sanluca, Folklore y Tango - Acqua Records, 2009) y Falsos Limites (Franco Luciani y Federico Lechner, Acqua Records, 2010).

Ha compartido escenarios, realizado giras y participado en grabaciones de un extenso abanico de reconocidos artistas nacionales e internacionales (Mercedes Sosa, Fito Paez, Raúl Carnota, Pedro Aznar, Jaime Torres, Divididos, Guillermo Fernández, León Gieco, Luís Salinas, Teresa Parodi, María Volonté, Horacio Molina, Dúo Coplanacu, Víctor Heredia, Eva Ayllon, Juan Carlos Baglietto, Jairo, Gotan Project y Lila Downs, entre otros).

Ha sido receptor de múltiples premios, se destacan: Premio Clarín Espectáculos 2005, Trimarg 2007 (UNESCO), Atahualpa 2008, Premios Clarín 2009 nominación “Figura del Folclore” (integrando la terna junto a Mercedes Sosa y Teresa Parodi) y Premio “Consagración” 2010 del Festival Nacional de Folklore de Cosquín en  su edición de oro.

El 2010 lo encuentra integrando diferentes formaciones musicales (Franco Luciani Dúo y Grupo, Proyecto Sanluca y junto a Federico Lechner) cumpliendo con una importante agenda de presentaciones a nivel nacional e internacional.









Franco Luciani is one of the most remarkable and talented musicians of the new litter of cultors of the Argentine popular music. He was born in the city of Rosario in 1981, and studied in the University of Rosario (Superior School of Music) and in the Provincial School of Music of the same city. He resides at the moment in the city of Buenos Aires. Although his academic formation in the two institutions was based on percussion and drums, his professional career is based in the interpretation of the harmonica in all its versions but preponderantly the chromatic one. He has become an outstanding interpreter of Argentine music, rural as much as urban (folklore-tango).

In 2002,he won the contest Pre Cosquín, in the Solo Instrument heading and soon he was awarded with the Prize Revelation Cosquín 2002. Since then Franco Luciani has started a career that is in constant growth.

He has crossed the Argentine provinces and also made presentations in Brazil that took him to play in the "Palace of the Arts" from Bello Horizonte City; and in the Guaira theater, among other scenes from Curitiba City, both tours were organized by the Argentina Consulate.

He had shared stages with an extensive variety of local artists. He made a national tour with the guitar player Luis Salinas in 2005, he has also played with Chango Farias Gomez, Pedro Aznar (in the city of Rosario and the ND Ateneo Theatre of Buenos Aires), Antonio Tarragó Ros (on the stage of Cosquín 2004 among other occasions), Duo Coplanacu, Alfredo Abalos, Lilian Saba, Paula Shocron (remarkable pianist with which he presented a project with songs of Cuchi Leguizamón), Carlos "Negro" Aguirre, Willy Gonzalez, Ica Novo, Jorge Fandermole, Domingo Cura, Walter Rios, Horacio Avilano, Rubén Izaurralde, Antonio Rearte, Ildo Patriarca, Lidia Borda, Ariel Ardit, Raúl Carnota, La Chacarerata Santiagueña (in the "Astral" Theatre in the City of Buenos Aires), Group Divididos, Orquesta Juan de Dios Filiberto, Raúl Barboza, Juanjo dominguez, José Ogivieky, Ernesto Snajer, Laura Albarracin, Maria Volonté, Marcelo Torres, Mavi Díaz ( douther´s of the famous harmonica players Hugo Diaz) Mercedes Sosa (on the scene of Cosquín 2006) and León Gieco (Opera Theatre 2006), among other figures.

In 2003, in the Museum of Bellas Artes of the city of Buenos Aires, within the framework of 35º Anniversary of the Festival Fundación Encuentros Internacionales de Música Contemporánea and the Argentine Council of Music, dependent of the International Council of Music of UNESCO, he was awarded with the "Mention Trimarg 2003" (Tribune of Argentina Music), in the heading Folkloric Projection, to the first record production (independent) of Franco Luciani titled "Armusa". In the same one he was accompanied by the rosarian group, La Tropa.

At the moment he appears as a solo artist, in front of different formations. First, "FRANCO LUCIANI GROUP", with Martin Gonzalez in guitar, Franco Exertier in percussion and Facundo Peralta in the bass guitar, dedicated mainly to the Argentine music of folkloric root. "Acuarela de bolsillo" Cd (2007) is part of this formation edite by Aqua seal Record. Second, is a duo with the Buenosairean piano player Daniel Godfrid, with a repertory integrally dedicated to tango. This last project, led him in 2006, to the edition of the CD "Harmonica and Tango" by Aqua seal Records. The presentation took place in "La Trastienda Club" in San Telmo Bs. As. The disc received praiseful critics: Daily Clarin, Mariano Del Mazo: "a delicate and sentimental disc that is characterized by its good taste. The duo obtains extraordinary moments ". Daily Page 12. Karina Micheletto. "Qualification: 8 points. The result is a novel approach... sustained by the virtuosity of Luciani and its capacity to “make say” to its instrument in each improvisation". He also takes part of the recognized musical composer Raul Carnota´s recent proyect: Trio SanLuCa (SANchez - LUciani - CArnota) which also includes Rodolfo Sanchez in percussion.

In 2003, He composed the staff of harmonic players that made the concert in tribute to the famous pioneer of the instrument in our native music, Hugo "Oreja" Diaz, which took place in the Golden Hall of the Legislature of the Independent City of Buenos Aires. Also in the tribute that surrendered to him in the city of Santiago del Estero (native city of Diaz).
In an article of the newspaper La Nacion of Bs. As, respect to the first event, Luciani was described as "the Successor".

In the city of Rosario, he was awarded with the "Musi 2004" (granted by the Musimedios Foundation and the Union of Musicians of the city). In 2006, he received the Magazine Prize, that is granted annually to outstanding figures of the national artistic atmosphere, by the specialized journalist Carlos Bermejo and the Telefé Group.

He has participated in different record works for other musicians like: "Espejos"(2005), by Raul Carnota, "Pequeños Mundos" (2005), By Jorge Fandermole, "Corazon sin tiempo" (2005), by the Coplanacu Duo, "Amor, Sangre y Silencio" by Roxana Carabajal, "A Pura Ushuta" (2005), by the remarkable pianist Eduardo Spinassi, "Ares y Mares" (2005) by Willy Gonzalez and Micaela Vita, “Sudestada” by Maria Volonté, "Autobiografia" by Teresa Parodi, "Buenos Amigos" de Horacio Molina and "Despues de Todo", last CD of Ernesto Snajer recorded live in the Fibertel studios, among other Cds soon to be appeared.

By the end of 2005 he has won the "Clarin Espectaculos" awards as Folkloric Revelation. The Clarin is the most important newspaper in Argentina.

In October of the same year, the conference "Yupanqui According to Franco Luciani" took place in Espacio Tucuman (in CAP Fed.). Cultural Cycle Yupanquiano-Fundacion Yupanqui.

At the moment forms part of the Isabel De Sebastian’s musical project and the American musician and composer Bob Telson (creator of the original music of the successful film Baghdad Coffee) who worked with the unforgettable Tito Puente and, is the creator of compositions which have been interpreted by Caetano Veloso, among others. In 2006 he carried out presentations with this kind of formation in the Puerto Madero Faena Hotel (Bs. As.).

During 2006, he took part of six successful presentations in the Buenos Aires’s Opera Theatre with the legendary santafesino musician and composer Leon Gieco in his work “15 years of me”. In these concerts, Luciani participated as Leon Gieco’s special guess in a segment dedicated exclusively to the Harmonica. Subsequently, this event was repeated for free outdoors, with the special participation of the “Juan de Dios Filiberto’s Orchestra” of which Luciani formed part in an interpretation as a soloist invited adapting Gieco’s woks and sung by the same author.

Since 2002, to date (2007), Franco Luciani has participated consecutively in every edition of the National Festival of Folklore of Cosquín, in its main stage "Atahualpa Yupanqui", and also in the “Baradero Festival 2007”
